German tuner Gemballa has released more details and pictures of its new kit dedicated to the mighty McLaren 12C Spider, which made its world debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and include a carbon-fibre Aero-Kit, an interior re-trim in the finest leathers and the brand’s new GForged-one lightweight alloy wheels. The aerodynamic package consists of a new front bumper/spoiler, side skirts and rear valence, which perfectly line up with the OE bodywork using the factory mounting points.

Another highlight for the model are the new ‘GForged-one’ ultra-light alloy wheels, in 20 and 21-inch diameters for the front and rear axles respectively. Although these sophisticated looking wheels are an inch larger in diameter than their factory counterparts, their low weight ensures that the unsprung weight of the vehicle remains unchanged. The GForged-one wheels come in “Black Magic” or “Gunmetal”, with the option of a gloss turned “diamond cut” finish for their spokes.

As for the interior, basically every sigle detail can be customized according to the client’s wishes, using only the finest materials. GT Spider customers can choose among the finest leathers and materials to build their individual interior. The powertrain has been left untouched, thus the output of the car remains 625 hp and 600 Nm of peak torque, which should be enough for most customers.

Just a few days ago Porsche released the first official images and details of its awesome 918 Spyder, and now they’ve released more official pictures of the car. As previously pointed out, the model is pushed by an hybrid powertrain made of a 4.6-liter V8 engine producing 608 hp and 530 Nm of torque and a pair of electric motors (one for each axle) producing 156 and 129 hp which would bring the total output of the car at 887 horsepower and more than 800 Nm of torque.

The 918 Spyder reveals its close links to motorsport in a variety of ways: it has been designed, developed and produced by Porsche engineers who build race cars - in cooperation with series production specialists - while the concept of the V8 engine originates from the LMP2 RS Spyder race car. The load-bearing structures, the monocoque and subframe, are made of carbon fibre reinforced polymer, and many parts of the super sports car come from manufacturers who have a proven record as suppliers for motorsport vehicles.

We already talked about its most rematkable features such as active aerodynamics, different driving modes and so on, but we kind of neglected to mention the sound of this jaw-dropping car, which is supplied by its so-called top pipes, that terminate in the upper part of the rear end immediately above the engine. No other production vehicle uses this solution. The top pipes’ greatest benefit is optimal heat removal, because the hot exhaust gases are released via the shortest possible route, and exhaust gas back pressure remains low.

McLaren’s tactics seem to have paid off because, as we speak, the company has already sold 250 out of 375 McLaren P1 confirmed for production. During an interview with Autocar, Levine stated that three-quarters of the cars currently sold have received bespoke modifications and roughly thirty of them will check in at McLaren Special Operations department before being delivered.

Some customers have made very specific requests to McLaren, such as the removal of the air conditioning system, to further reduce weight, or to finish the exterior in an unpainted carbon-fibre weave, to make the car even more personal. Customisation and individuality are the two key points that customers expect from their McLaren P1. Some clients have even purchased two cars, while others have asked McLaren to modify the interior design, in order to fully satisfy their personal taste.

The European version of the Ford EcoSport was unveiled in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, though the actual presentation will took place at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show (7-17 March). The new SUV for the European markets is basically the same model that the Blue Oval has launched for the Indian market, with just a few slight differences such as different alloys and the color options for the livery.

The European EcoSport is expected to become available for order in the first quarter of 2014, and will come with an engine range made of a 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engine producing 125 hp, a 1.5-liter petrol unit producing 110 hp and a 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine credited with an output of 90 hp. However, the latter is expected to come with fuel consumption and CO2 emissions values that would place it at the top of its segment.

The EcoSport also boasts a number of high-tech contents typical of cars from a higher segment, including the MyLink system, the SYNC Emergency Assistance and also some interesting Sync AppLink apps, which can be installed on the smartphone of the owner and handle several functions of the car. In other news, Ford has also confirmed the arrival in Europe of the Edge, a larger SUV that will position itself right above the Kuga.

Just a few hours after the unveiling of the model in Hamburg, Mercedes-Benz unleashes the first bunch of videos of its much anticipated new flagship, the imposing new generation of the S-Class, which we thoroughly described in a dedicated post just yesterday (which also featured an exclusive live photo gallery of both the event and the car provided by our parent-site Autoblog.it). With this new car, the aspiration of the German manufacturer was - quite simply - to build ‘the best automobile in the world‘, and Mr.Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, is convinced they did just that:

“Rather than being about safety or aesthetics, power or efficiency, comfort or dynamism, our aspirations were ‘the best or nothing’ in every respect. No other car stands for the Mercedes-Benz brand promise more than the S-Class.”

For the first time in the history of the S-Class, the development of this new generation was focused on the long-wheelbase Saloon, with the short-wheelbase version that was derived from it. This is because the S-Class is definitely a chauffeur-driven vehicle in Asia, whereas in Europe and North America the owners of an S-Class are frequently behind the wheel themselves. For this reason the rear passengers will be able to enjoy improvements in interior dimensions, comfort and entertainment options. See all the other videos right after the jump.

German manufacturer Porsche has released some new official details of the much anticipated 918 Spyder, a model that is clearly inspired by the 911 GT3 R Hybrid racer. The model is pushed by a 4.6-liter V8 engine, credited with an output of 608 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque, and two electric motors, one for each axle, producing 156 and 129 horsepower. The gearbox is the well known seven-speed Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission.

Because of its parallel hybrid configuration, the 918 Spyder can be powered at the rear axle either individually by the combustion engine or electric motor or via both drives jointly. The combined power of all these units provides the 918 Spyder with a total output of 887 hp and more than 800 Nm of of torque, enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 340 km/h (211 mph).

The model comes with five driving modes for its three motors that can be activated via a “map switch” on the steering wheel, just like in motorsport cars. It can be set on “Race”, “Race Hybrid”, “Hybrid”, “Sport Hybrid” and “E-Power” modes, though there’s also a “Hot Lap” button that releases the maximum power output limits for a few fast laps. However, this mode uses all of the available energy left in the battery. These driving modes work in conjunction with Porsche Active Aerodynamic (PAA), a system of adjustable aerodynamic elements that ensures unique and variable aerodynamics according to the needs of the moment.

On electric power alone (“E-Power” mode), the 918 Spyder accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than seven seconds and can reach speeds of up to 150 km/h, with an overall range of about 30 km. In this mode, the combustion engine is only used when needed, meaning that if the battery’s charge state drops below a set minimum value, the vehicle automatically switches to hybrid mode.

As a plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Porsche 918 Spyder combines the dynamic performance of a racing machine with prettuy low fuel consumption figures: at about three litres of fuel per 100 km, it is even better than most small cars. The car’s unladen weight is approximately 1,640 kg, with the drivetrain components and all components weighing over 50 kg located as low and as centrally as possible within the vehicle.

Last weekend over 40 Lotus came together from all over Italy for the second meeting of the Official Lotus Club Italia at the Autodromo di Franciacorta. Adrenaline and fun for the members and friends of the Official Lotus Club Italia: after spending the morning on the track the participants embarked on a journey along magnificent tourist routes, driving on the characteristic Italian mountain roads surrounded by amazing landscapes, which led the participants to the little town of Ponte di Legno.

On Sunday the group spent the day driving on the magnificent panoramic route that led to Gardone, where they stopped in an enchanting location with a terrace overlooking the lake. Soon the Club (founded in 2012 with official status given by the manufacturer) will also offer its members the opportunity to visit Lotus headquarters.

Only few days ago Lotus has released a video that anticipates the arrival of the new Lotus Exige S Roadster, introduced to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The Exige S Roadster comes with a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine able to develop an output of 350 horsepower and boasts true sports car performance: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is covered in 4.0 seconds flat, whilst the 0-160 km / h is carried out in 8.5 seconds and top speed reaches 233 kilometres per hour.

Following the debut of the model at the Wörthersee 2013 in Austria, Volkswagen’s Commercial Vehicles division has released more official details of the Amarok Power Pickup concept, a car that is meant to anticipate the next generation of the popular VW-branded pickup truck. First off, this concept is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine, credited with an output of 272 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, so you know right away this is not going to be a quiet one: thanks to its eight-speed automatic gearbox and permanent 4MOTION transmission, it would i fact sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds.

The exterior design features widened wheel-arches able to accommodate its imposing 22-inch alloy wheels, while ride height has been lowered by 80 mm. At the front we find bi-xenon headlights with chrome surround, a chrome grille and some visibly enlarged lower air intake. At the rear there is also a carbon fibre diffuser and dual exhausts, with tinted taillights and red, white and black side decals.

As for the interior, dashboard, door trims and exclusive Nubuck leather sports seats also use a black, red and white colour theme, while ‘in-car entertainment’ is supplied via an advanced infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen and a 500 watt subwoofer. That’s all we get to know for now, but we expect to get more details as the model will get closer to production.

You probably wouldn’t think of a Lamborghini Aventador being used for anything more than posing around sunny tax havens like Monaco or racing around European tracks in the hands of professional drivers. Although the driver behind the wheel of this one’s being paid, he’s probably not a professional racing driver as the Lamborghini Aventador he s piloting is being used for “various services” around the Bologna airport.

Although the Lamborghini Aventador is being used for highway patrols in the Middle East, it’s not normally the sort of vehicle anyone would expect to find waiting for him at work. The 700 hp super car is being used primarily to assure the security of Bologna airport, but getting a super car like that onto an open runway must bring to mind the possibility of finding out its limits.

The car was sent across to the airport by the Lamborghini factory as part of the firm’s 50th anniversary celebrations and it’s being used to guide planes taxiing into and out of the Guglielmo Marconi airport hangars.

Unfortunately the service this Lambo provides is only on a temporary basis as it will be returned on 19th May. Hopefully the car will be kept as it is and displayed rather than being stripped down and rebuilt for sale, but we’ve no way of knowing what the Italian marquee has in store for this particular model.

Lamborghini Aventador: Bologna Airport

If the rumours are true then this new BMW Gran Lusso Pininfarina concept, which will be unveiled to the public this month, will preview the return of the BMW 8-Series.

The BMW Gran Lusso Coupe will be shown at the Concorso D’Eleganza during May but until then we have a few teaser shots that don’t give us all that much to go on. Although the Italian design house best known for their work with Ferrari are behind the design there are a few BMW design cues that are unmistakable in these teaser shots. The Hofmeister kink in the side windows at the rear, the striking crease line through the centre of the car’s profile and the short overhangs marks this out as a BMW.

We understand that the Gran Lusso Coupe that will be displayed later in the month is powered by a 529 hp 6.0 litre turbocharged V-12, which is also found in the 760i. The production version of the car is expected to use the underpinnings of the 7-Series and will fit into the German marque’s new model range that places coupe cars under even numbers. The 3-Series will soon spawn the 4-Series coupe, the 1-Series will be spun off into a coupe 2-Series and BMW already produce a 6-Series to compliment the 5-Series.

The 8-Series has not been part of the line-up since 1999 so its return will be a welcome one for fans of the German car maker. We should be able to bring you more on the BMW Gran Lusso Pininfarina later in the month.

In the wake of various spy-shots, teasers and internet leaks, the brand new Mercedes S-Class has been officially unveiled yesterday at the Airbus A380 delivery center in Hamburg, Germany, and here is a bunch of exclusive live pictures documenting the event - courtesy of out mates from parent-site Autoblog.it - as well as the official pics released by the 3-pointed star house. The new flagship of the German giant has been designed according to three priorities, “Intelligent Drive”, “Efficient Technology” and “Essence of Luxury”, and we can safely say that the final outcome does live up to the expectations.

Initialliy, Mercedes-Benz will offer the car with an engine line-up made of four options, two of which will be hybrid powetrains. The S350 BlueTEC comes with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine producing 258 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque, enough to push the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph); the S500 will be powered by a 4.7-liter V8 petrol delivering 455 hp and 700 Nm of peak torque, which will allow it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reach the same top speed of 250 km/h.

As for the hybrid options, the S300 BlueTEC Hybrid will count on a 2.1-liter 4-cylinder engine delivering 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque, and will able to reach the 100 km/h mark from a standstill in 7.6 seconds on its way to its 238 km/h (148 mph) of top speed; the S400 Hybrid will feature a 3.5-liter V6 producing 306 hp and 370 Nm of torque enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Design-wise, the flowing silhouette of the new generation of the S-Class offers a nice mix of extreme luxury, huge dimensions and a more accentuated sporty attitude. The radiator grille is now larger, upright and distinctly three-dimensional in design whereas the long bonnet, domed roof line and the gently slanting rear end give it the classic saloon proportions. Another striking feature is the massive use of LED technology, which has been expolited for everything: headlamps, tail lights and interior lighting. With almost 500 LEDs on board, the S-Class is basically the first ever car without a single light bulb.

It goes without saying that the interior of the car is as luxurious and refined as you can imagine, combining ride comfort, spaciousness, fine materials and user friendliness (in the form of a variety of assist packages and top notch info-tainment options) to the very highest standard. Special attention was dedicated to comfort and safety in the rear, underlining the fact that the new S-Class wants the passengers in the rear to feel like they are seated in first class.

As usual, the S-Class will be available in short- and long-wheelbase configurations: the former will measure 5,116 mm in length, 1,899 mm in width and 1,483 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,035 mm whereas the latter will be 5,246 mm long with a wheelbase of 3,165 mm.

Among the new models that got unveiled at the last 2013 Geneva International Motor Show, one of the most eagerly-awaited was definitely the new Volkswagen Golf GTI, the most sporty variant of the Golf VII, and here are two new videos (see the other one after the jump) showing us just why there were so many people checking it out in Geneva. The main surprise was that actually VW showed up in Switzerland with two variants of the car: the ’standard’ one producing 220 horsepower and the ‘GTI Performance’, which has an extra 10 horsepower to play with. Maximum torque is 350 Nm for both of them, while the transmission can be the standard 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional dual clutch 6-speed automatic.

The new GTIs are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine (TSI) with direct-injection. The standard GTI accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 246 km/h (153 mph) while the GTI Performance reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) and needs just 6.4 seconds to hit the 100 km/h from a standstill.

Both GTI versions of the popular German hatch are equipped with a Stop-Start system, and fulfil the EU-6 emissions standard. Average fuel consumption is rated at 6.0 l/100 km and CO2 emissions at 139 g/km, meaning the Golf GTI offers an 18 per cent improvement in fuel economy compared to the previous model. With the optional 6-speed DSG, the two GTI cars consume 6.4 and 6.5 l/100 respectively (equivalent to 148 and 150 g/km of CO2). Other highlights of the model include a set of 17-inch “Brooklyn” GTI wheels fitted with 225/45 tyres, special side sills, diffuser, smoked LED rear lights and LED licence plate illumination.

Porsche has just released a new video starring the recently unveiled 2014 Porsche 911 GT3, which we got to see for the first time at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show back in March. With new engine, transmission, body and chassis, the completely-redeveloped fifth generation of the 911 GT3 occupies the top position among Porsche sports cars with naturally-aspirated engines.

The model is powered by a 3.8-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine producing 475 horsepower and 438 Nm, enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds before hitting the 200 km/h mark in less than 12 seconds, on the wai to its maximum speed of 315 km/h (195 mph). This enegine is mated to the mandatory Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK), specifically revised for this model with shorter gear ratios and faster shifting, which drives the rear wheels.

The Porsche 911 GT3 is also the first model to come with active rear wheel steering: depending on the speed, the rear wheels steer in the same or opposite direction of the front wheels, thereby improving stability and agility. Other new features of the model meant to improve driving dynamics are an electronically controlled, fully variable rear differential lock and dynamic engine mounts.

Just hours ahead of the official unveiling of the model, Mercedes-Benz has released twhat is pretty likely to be the last teaser of its new flagship, the 2014 S-class. Actually, just half of the car is visible in this last image as it is loaded on a cargo airplane used in cargo: the presentation of the new model will in fact take place this evening an the Airbus A380 delivery center in Hamburg, Germany.

A couple of days ago we published an official video teasing the revamped flagship of the 3-pointed star house, saying that it has been developed on the ‘long wheelbase’ variant of the outgoing version in order to provide it with more comfort and space for the passenger sitting at the back, but unfortunately we couldn’t go much further than that. However, more info on the subject should be released in a matter of hours.

As for now, we can take a look at this image and wonder how the remainder of the car would look like, though more pictures of both the interior and exterior of the S-Class W222 as well as the full-spec sheets should appear on this page shortly. Now that the Maybach brand is definitely out of the picture, we believe that this car will come with all the luxury and technologies that Mercedes is currently able to fit into one car, so stay tuned.

Audi releases a new official video of its most athletic station wagon, the Audi RS6 Avant. Right from the beginning, the new video makes it clear that this is no ordinary estate car: the manly voice of its 4.0-liter twin-turbo TFSI V8 underlines the fact that the RS6 might be looking as a family car, but is definitely capable of some stunning performance.

The model is credited with an output of 560 horsepower and 700 Nm of peak torque, enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 305 km/h (190 mph), while average fuel consumption is not bad either: 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers, roughly 40% less than the previous model. Actually, the top speed of the ‘regular’ RS6 Avantis electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph), though it can be increased to 280 km/h (174 mph) with the optional ‘Dynamic Package’ and up to the aforementioned 305 km/h (190 mph) with the ‘Dynamic Plus Package’, Audi reigns in the engine only upon reaching 305 km/h (189.52 mph).

Arguably, the most interesting technical feature of the Audi RS6 Avant is the cylinder on demand system (COD), which can shut down the intake and exhaust valves of up to 4 cylinders at low to intermediate loads and engine speeds, allwing the 4.0 TFSI to run as a four-cylinder engine until the driver accelerates more strongly. The changeover from four and eight-cylinder operation takes just a few hundredths of a second.

Frustrated landowners have now an extra weapon in their armamentarium to stop people illegally parking on their private land. British company FlashPark has designed a new electronic ticket, on which can be recorded a ‘friendly’ message to warn drivers of their offence in a non confrontational way, before issuing an actual fine.

During 2012 the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) released the personal information of 1.5 million motorists to private enforcement companies and an estimated £150 million was raised in fines. The audio warning informs drivers that their details might be obtained from the DVLA which could also issue a fine. According to Costas Constantinou, the ticket inventor ‘The flexibility of this verbal delivery method allows issuers to be as stern or as straightforward as they see fit depending on the situation.’

Although this new technology seems a civilised way to avoid unexpected payments, detractors found the initiative rather doubtful and even ridiculous. A spokesman for the AA raised questions about the level of safety of such tickets, whose electric chips could interfere with cars’ security systems. Whilst Stephen Glaister, director of the RAC Foundation, found the talking parking ticket the next nuisance motorists will have to deal with. He also sarcastically suggested to replace words with soothing music, adding ‘How about Money for Nothing by Dire Straits?’ You can say that again!

Mercedes-Benz has released the official backstage video of a recent photo-shoot in Namibia starring the massive Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6. The monstrous 3.85-tonne pickup from the 3-pointed star house does not leave anything to chance, not even the lenght of this video which lasts 2 minutes and 22 seconds, recalling its distinctive three-axle six-wheel configuration.

Six driven wheels, portal axles of military origins, five differential locks which can be engaged on the move, an off-road low-range ratio and a tyre-pressure control system which allows the pressure in the huge 37-inch tyres to be adjusted in record time while the vehicle is running are the key features to explain the kind of attitude that this machine can have in the wild. And yet you are missing the best part: it is powered by an AMG 5.5 liter V8 biturbo engine producing 544 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque, with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission paired with the front drive system from the G 63 AMG and a rear twin drive train from the 6×6 version, which has already proven its reliability in service with the Australian army.

The Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6 obviously comes with a pretty advanced suspension system, rolls on 37-inch wheels and measures 5.87 meters in length, 2.21 in height and 2.11 in width, with a gound clearance of about 2.30 meters ground clearance and huge 37-inch tires. British iconic brand Jaguar has released a new video starring its all-new 2013 F-Type, a cool 2-seater that was launched at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The model is available in three variants - F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S - each one of which with a different power output. The the F-Type and F-Type S will be powered by a new 3.0-litre V6 - developed from Jaguar’s 5.0-litre V8 - producing 340 and 380 hp respectively, whereas the F-Type S V8 will come with a newly developed V8 engine delivering 495 hp and 625 Nm of peak torque.

As for the performance figures, they get better proportionally: the ‘regular’ 340 hp F-Type accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds) and on to an electronically limited top speed of 260 161 mph (260 km/h), while emitting just 209g/km of CO2. The 380 hp F-Type S covers the 0-60 mph sprint in 4.8 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds) and has an electronically limited top speed of 171mph (275km/h), with CO2 emissions of 213g/km. Last but not least, the F-Type S V8 - boasting an astonishing torque-to-weight ratio of 375 Nm/tonne - accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds) and on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph (300 km/h) while emitting 259 g/km of CO2.

The F-TYPE features all-aluminium double wishbone front and rear suspension and a quick-ratio steering rack for ultimate responsiveness. The aluminium architecture has been optimised to provide the stiffest possible underpinnings for the suspension with rigidity gains of more than 30% in key areas compared to any other Jaguar application. Regardless of the engine, all versions are equipped with an 8-speed Quickshift transmission.

French manufacturer Renault has released new official images of the New Kangoo, which got unveiled at the last 2013 Geneva Motor Show and has been designed according to the new stylistic dictates adopted by the house of the Lozenge. In the comparison with the outgoing model, the new version sports a definitely more muscular visual approach that is particularly evident at the front, with the new logo, new almond-shaped headlights and black grille.

This updated version of the popular French MPV is available in both 5- and 7-seater configurations and in five different trim levels. In addition to the already known ‘Life’, ‘Zen’ and ‘Intens’ variants, the new Kangoo will be offered with the ‘Extreme’ and ‘Business’ packages: the former is characterized by a set of 15-inch alloys with Dark Metal finish, two-tone bumper and matte paint, the latter - as it name suggests - will be more business-oriented, dedicated to those would use it for work and prefer a low price over some fancy finishes.

As for the engine line-up, there are four options for the New Kangoo: a 1.6 petrol producing 105 bhp with either a manual five-speed or an automatic four-speed transmission and three diesel engines. The dCi 75 and dCi 90 are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the dCi 110 is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. Besides, the Energy TCe 115 petrol engine will also join the fold in September.

As it often happens in these cases, we don’t know whether these pics of the 2014 BMW M5 genuinely leaked because of some reckless employee who uploaded them somewhere by mistake - this is the rumor circulating on the web, actually - or it is just yet another promotional gimmick, but the bottom line is that we finally get the chance to see how the eagerly-awaited face-lifted 2014 M5 will actually look like, and we gladly take it.

The full story is that the online configurator of the gritty sedan was briefly available on the site of the German carmaker - maybe for some test - and German website BimmerToday was quick enough to get some screenshots of the model. We already know that the new M5 is currently in the final stage of its testing, but this is actually the first time we get to see the final appearance of the car without any camouflage, interior included.

Predictably, there aren’t many changes in the comparison with the current model - as we would have expected seeing the recent F10 variant of the 5-Series - though the front grille has been renovated and seems to resemble that of the BMW M6. Same goes for the interior, which has benn just mildly upgraded: the steering wheel and the new, integrated touch pad with iDrive controller are among the most obvious changes. Eventually, under that hood there should be a 4.4-liter V8 engine producing 560 hp, a figure that would go up to 575 hp with the Competition Package, an addition that should make the new M5 able to rival the Audi RS6 and the Mercedes E63 AMG.

Mercedes has just released a short video teasing the new Mercedes S-Class W222, a model that will be officially launched at an exclusive event that will take place in Hamburg in a matter of hours, on Wednesday, May 15. The new flagship of the 3-pointed-star house will come with renewed aesthetics which will keep some of the classic lines of the previuos generations but with some serious difference in order to make it look more modern and attractive.

The new generation of the Mercedes S-Class has been developed on the base of the Mercedes S-Class ‘long wheelbase’, out of which the German engineers made two new versions, the ’short wheelbase’ and the Mercedes S-Class Pullman. The choice to develop the car starting from the longer variant was taken due to the positioning of this car in certain markets, where many potential buyers of this car use to have a chauffeur, meaning they like to enjoy the space and comfort of the rear seats. Precisely for this reason Mercedes has also developed new technologies to improve comfort, relax and entertainment for the rear passengers.

The 2014 Mercedes S-Class will be offered with a variety of both petrol and diesel engine options, but a hybrid powertrain is also in the cards. Expect to see a set of LED daytime running lights with a pretty distinctive layout, cutting-edge technologies and all the best bits you can think of.In addition, the Mercedes S-Class W222 will introduce a new dashboard with two large LCD screens that serve as instrument panel and infotainment system, with adjustable lighting, that can also change color at will.

Peugeot has released the first official photo (above) of the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak which will race at the next Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2013. Behind of this car at the famous American event there will his Majesty 9-time World Rally Champion Sebastian Loeb - who won the Argentina Rally just a few days ago - who will attempt to add another prestigious win to his already impressive record. The event, to be held June 30 in Colorado, will be run entirely on asphalt, and for this reason the French engineers have developed a particularly low and stiff car that will take full advantage of the 875 horsepower developed by its twin-turbo V6.

This engine derives from the one powering the awesome Peugeot 908, the endurance race car competing in the Le Mans Series, and will allow the four-wheel drive 208 T16 Pikes Peak to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.8 seconds. Yes, you’ve got it right: that’s even better than Formula 1, thanks in most part to a weight of only 875 kilograms.

Sebastian Loeb himself is said to be particularly excited about this car, which he sees combining features of three different kinds of motorsport: the tires of a Le Mans Series car, the differential of a WRC car and the downforce of a Formula 1 car. Just add some massive power, awesome handling, a combined wheel drive system and you’ll get whole the picture. Top speed is ‘only’ 240 km/h (150 mph) because the gear ratio is designed primarily to deliver in acceleration out of corners, which is the true secret to win the Pikes Peak. A Massachusetts-based firm called Terrafugia has announced plans to launch the first flying car within 2015. Called Transition, the vehicle is a futuristic two-seater saloon with foldable wings that can transform into a private jet at the touch of a button. It can reach a speed of 70 mph on the road and 115 in the air with consumption is rated at 35 miles per gallon and 22 l/h respectively.

Transition can fly at 1,400 feet, while commercial planes fly at 35,000 and comes at a price of £190,000, not too bad considering the costs of a private jet. The only drawback to the flying-car is it needs a runway to take off. For that reason Terrafugia is developing a TF-X model, which will also fit in a garage, but will be able to take-off vertically from a standing position, thanks to its motorised rotors on the wings.

The TF-X will carry up to four passengers, flying non-stop for 500 miles and its ability to take-off from standstill means it can easily avoid traffic jams. However, in order to open its wings a space of 100 feet in diameter will be needed. The model has not been tested yet and is expected to make its début within 12 years. To drive both vehicles it’s required a pilot’s licence and 20 hours of flying.

French manufacturer Peugeot releases the first pictures and details of the upcoming Peugeot 308, the new C-segment hatch that is set to hit the markets towards the end of the current year. As for now we don’t get to know anything about the possible powertrain options, but we get the first bunch of official images of the model as well as some info regrding weight and size, which actually make for a nice appetizer.

Developed on the new EMP2 modular platform and measuring 4.25 meters in length and 1.46 meters in height - and with a boot capacity of 470 litres below the shelf - the 308 presents itself as a pretty compact car which is also 140 kg lighter than the generation it is about to replace. Peugeot points out that the range will be pretty ‘green’ - with a version that will emit less than 85 g/km of CO2 - and will come with refined interiors and innovative instruments and controls.

As for the actual design of the model, at the front we see slim Full-LED headlamps that will be part of the standard equipment on the upper trim levels, while at the back there are the three Peugeot ‘claws’ drawn by the rear LED lamps, which surely reinforce the car’s technological and dynamic image. The new Peugeout 308 is expected to debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The menacing Lamborghini Urus, the first SUV from the Audi-owned Italian brand, will actually hit production pretty soon. The model, which was officially introduced in a Concept form at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, will mark the entrance of the famous manufacturer in a new territory (though they gave it a first try ages ago with the mighty LM002 of the mid-80s), and with its super-luxury approach it is bound to change the rules of the whole segment.

As anticipated by Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, the car will be deveolped on the well-known MLB platform of the Volkswagen Group, which will spawn the next generation Audi Q7, Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne. Set to hit the market in late 2016/early 2017 as a MY2017, the Urus will become the third model of the Lamborghini line-up - alongside the wicked Gallardo and Aventador sportscars - and, in the hopes of the menagement, will bring to an increase in the sales of the brand.

Characterized by muscular and yet elegant aesthetics, the Urus should offer plenty of space for four people, with also some significant stirage space which would make it a real car for everyday use. When introduced in China in April 2012, the Urus was designed to host a V12 engine producing something like 600 horsepower and able to push it up to a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph), but we will see if the evntual production model will come with such an outstanding power.
